Project INTRA r³+: Integration and Transfer of Research Results Obtained by the BMBF-Programme r³ (Innovative Technologies for Resource Efficiency - Strategic Metals and Minerals)

Country / Region: Germany / World

Begin of project: January 1, 2012

End of project: December 31, 2015

Status of project: April 25, 2014

The project “INTRA r³+” is part of the funding measure “r³ - Innovative Technologies for Resource Efficiency – Strategic Metals and Minerals” within the framework programme “Research for Sustainable Development (FONA)” of the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). Within “r³”, 28 collaborative research projects with more than 100 stakeholders of science and industry are covering the fields of recycling, substitution and raw materials efficiency, urban mining and methods for the evaluation of resource efficiency. The accompanying integration and transfer project “INTRA r³+”, headed by the Helmholtz Institute Freiberg for Resource Technology, aims to induce networking within and beyond “r³”. Additional objectives are the evaluation and the transfer of the knowledge generated within the joint research projects of “r³” with special regard to their contribution to sustainability and security of supply.

Within the scope of “INTRA r³+”, the BGR is responsible for the work package

Transfer of the results of the funding measure “r³” to the industry.

Furthermore, the BGR is partner in the potential analysis of the innovations initiated by “r³”. Key question of this work package is how the results contribute to Germany’s securitization of supply with strategic raw materials.
