Epicenter Maps for Germany and Adjacent Areas
One of the maps shows all earthquakes cited in the catalogue, the second map only those with an intensity from VI - VII, i.e., those that caused damage. Areas with a high seismicity can be easily recognized on the second map: the northern margin of the Alps, Lake Constance area, Swabian Alb, Upper Rhine Graben, Central Rhine area and Lower Rhine Embayment, Vogtland, the region around Gera, and the Leipzig Embayment. Nontectonic destructive earthquakes were caused by rockbursts resulting from mining operations.
