Groundwater Flow Pattern in the Upper Kalahari Aquifer of Eastern Caprivi

Groundwater flow pattern in the Upper Kalahari Aquifer of eastern CapriviThe directions of groundwater flow near the Kwando River indicate that considerable amounts of surface water from the Kwando must infiltrate by river bank infiltration into the Upper Kalahari Aquifer and possibly the Lower Kalahari Aquifer. This also becomes clear when comparing the streamflow at the gaging stations Kongola and Lianschulu located at the Kwando River. Further proof is added by the distribution of δ18O and δD values in the Eastern Caprivi (Figure 14). Source: BGR
