WHYMAP network

The World-wide Hydrogeological Mapping and Assessment Programme (WHYMAP) is a joint programme of a consortium, consisting of:

The consortium is responsible for the supervision and management of the programme. BGR acts as executing institution. In 2002 a group of international mapping experts was established. This WHYMAP Steering Committee is supported by the continental Vice Presidents of the IAH and CGMW, the UNESCO regional offices and the national committees of UNESCO’s International Hydrological Programme IHP. All partners of the network are committed to supply relevant scientific input.

Contributions are also made by the University of Frankfurt providing groundwater recharge rates derived from the global hydrological model WaterGAP, the Global Runoff Data Centre (GRDC), the Global Precipitation Climatology Centre (GPCC), as well as numerous international experts and institutes.

The Consortium, although relying greatly on the knowledge and experience of regional and international experts, would appreciate suggestions and scientific input for the continuous improvement of the WHYMAP GIS.
